I had my timing belt replaced at SMR Garage Services in August. I decided to wait a while before leaving a review as I wanted to make sure everything was working properly and see how the car drove after the work. It has now been quite some time and I’m really pleased to say the car has been driving perfectly with no problems at all.

For a relatively new garage, I was really impressed with how professionally they handled such a big job. The work was carried out carefully and the price was very reasonable compared with other quotes I had received. It’s great to see a new local garage offering good-quality work at affordable prices.

I had a leaflet come through the door with SMR Garage Services on it. One of my tyres was worn out, so I thought, let’s give them a try. I called in and they were able to check it and change the tyre for me the same day. They were friendly, professional and got the job done without any fuss. I took my car to SMR Garage Services after noticing a clicking noise coming from the front wheel. They checked the car and found that the CV joint needed replacing. They explained everything clearly, supplied and fitted the new CV joint, and had the car ready promptly. The noise has completely gone and the car is driving perfectly again. I was having an issue with my brakes, so I searched for garages near me and SMR Garage Services came up. I decided to give them a try as they were local, and I’m really glad I did.

They checked the car and explained what needed doing. The brake discs and other worn components were replaced, and everything was done properly. The car is now driving and braking much better.

I was especially impressed because SMR is a newly established garage, but they handled the job very professionally. For the amount of work involved, I also found their price very reasonable compared with what I was expecting to pay.

I had a few problems with my car and decided I needed to get them checked properly. The engine management light had come on, the car was going into limp mode, I was having problems with the fuel gauge and there was also an issue with the rear wiring. I wasn’t comfortable leaving these problems and continuing to drive the car without knowing exactly what was wrong.

I initially phoned a few local garages, but unfortunately they were all very busy. Some of them told me they wouldn’t be able to look at the car for around two weeks. As I needed my car and didn’t really want to wait that long, I started looking for other garages nearby and came across SMR Garage Services.

I called SMR and explained the problems I was having. I was pleasantly surprised when they told me I could bring the car in for them to inspect it the same day. After speaking to several other garages, this made a huge difference to me.

I took the car to SMR and they carried out a proper diagnostic check to investigate the faults. They didn’t just guess what was wrong or simply clear the warning light. They took the time to look into the problems and identify what was actually causing the issues.

They dealt with the problems with the engine management light and limp mode, looked into the fuel-gauge fault and also repaired the rear wiring. I was really pleased with the way everything was explained to me, as I wanted to understand what was happening with my car before any work was carried out.

What impressed me most was that they managed to diagnose and sort the problems on the same day. I had originally been told by other garages that I might have to wait around two weeks just to get the car looked at, so having everything dealt with so quickly was a massive relief.

The car was returned to me and I was very happy with the result. The problems I had been experiencing had been dealt with, and I felt much more comfortable and confident driving the car again.

I was also very happy with the price. With several different faults involved, including diagnostic work and electrical wiring repairs, I expected it could become quite expensive. However, I found SMR’s price very reasonable for the amount of work they carried out and felt that I received really good value for money.

The whole experience was straightforward from beginning to end. I appreciated the fact that they were able to fit me in at short notice, investigate the problems properly, explain the work and get everything sorted without making me wait weeks.

I’m genuinely glad I found SMR Garage Services when I did. I was expecting to be told I would have to wait, like the other garages had told me, so getting the car diagnosed, repaired and back to me on the same day was a real relief. The price was also very fair for the amount of work involved.

Really impressed with the service from SMR Garages in St. Ives. I originally took my Peugeot 208 in to have the wet belt replaced, but while carrying out the work they also discovered that the CV joint needed replacing.

From start to finish, everything felt very honest, genuine and transparent. Shazia was brilliant at keeping me updated throughout and made sure I always knew what was happening with the car. They sent me photos of the damaged parts as well as the replacement parts, which gave me a lot of confidence in the work being carried out.

The mechanic was also extremely helpful and reliable, and took the time to make sure everything was properly checked. Once the repairs were completed, they ran a diagnostic scan to make sure there were no remaining error codes and that everything was as it should be.

They even repaired a broken rear washer jet pipe free of charge, which was a really nice touch, and then managed to fit the car in for an MOT the very next day.

What stood out most to me was how genuine all of the communication felt. At no point did I feel like I was just another customer or that unnecessary work was being pushed on me. I genuinely felt valued as a customer and that everyone there actually wanted to help and make sure the car was properly sorted.

Overall, the service was professional, thorough and trustworthy from start to finish. A special thank you to Shazia and the mechanic for being so helpful and keeping me well informed throughout. I’ll definitely be using SMR Garages again and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy garage in St. Ives.
